After a few moments, Lucien was able to finally see again. It was a good move by her and he wasn't surpised that when he turned back around to where she was and saw that she had gotten up and left. Judging by the sound of her feet hitting the dirt floor, and the distance of her scent, she had goteen a pretty good head start from him. Hopefully that would last for long though.

Since he had already given her a break back in the park by letting her get ahead of him he didn't think she needed anymore of a break. So as quickly as possible he began chasing her down again, following both her scent and the sound of her running. He had only been running for a few moments when the sound of her footsteps was drowned out by the distant sound of cars driving by, then her scent was blurred by the strong smell of exhaust; a highway.

As he cleared the last of the trees he saw that his guess was right. This was just great, there was a good chance that she had hitched a ride with someone and was long gone now. Slowly he ran a hand through his dark hair, contemplating on his next move, until he noticed something in the road. Just before the centerline of the road, on his side, he saw a sweater lying on the ground. He quickly ran to the sweater, oblivious to the traffic moving around him, and picked it up; it was hers. Just then, on the other side of the road, the door to a bar opened and laughter filled the air as a man and woman stepped out. It may not have been likely, but there was a chance that she had gone into the bar instead of hitching a ride.

Without wasting any time he ran to the bar, he was right again. Her scent was on the door of the bar. It would seem his good fortune would run out though because when he stepped into the bar the sheer amount of scents, both from humans and alcohol, drowned out his prey's scent. If she purposely decided to go into the bar for that reason then he chose the perfect prey to hunt. There was nothing more fun than hunting a human that was smart enough to know how to get away.

A few strange looks were given to Lucien as he made his way through the bar, looking for the girl. It was somewhat strange to see someone dressed as nice as Lucien was walking through what looked like a classic, redneck, bar. What they thought was no concern to him though, in fact he barely noticed any of the patrons of the bar, he was to concerned with finding the girl to pay any attention. So he continued on his hunt, knocking a few of the patrons the got in his way, out of the way.

All alone on a road going nowhere
Going nowhere

Vixen didn’t know what to do, she was running out of
idea’s this was just getting to hard. Vixen knew that eventually
he would catch where she was going and then what was going
to happen. She couldn’t exactly just duck into an alley and he
wouldn’t find her, this wasn’t like being chased by a regular
person, it was harder he knew where she was going he could
smell her and follow her every move. It was so hard for her to
stand there helpless and watch the door from the back of the
bar. Whimpering as she saw him come through the door she
started to back up.

Stumbling slightly she fell into a coat closet of sorts and suddenly
she got an idea. Biting her lip she pulled on one of the jackets
without hesitation and then slid toward the back door. A few
people gave her weird looks a she made her way toward the
back exit. Pulling open the door she slid through it and then
pulled the hood over her head, it was pitch black out now the
only light was the light from the small street lights that lay in
even intervals. Looking both up and down the street she bit her
lip again.

Vixen knew that she was in his element right now inside he was
confused by the smell of all the other people and the sheer
volume of people all in one room, but out here he had the upper
hand and she knew it. That was the reason why she was
worrying so much right now. Leaning back against the door
Vixen knew that it wouldn’t be long until he caught her scent and
she was off running again. Stepping away from the door she
looked back to the building, she could hear the music through the
walls and the chatter of people inside. Looking back and forth up
and down the road she was wracking her brain for somewhere
to go. All she knew was that right now she had to keep that
jacket on; someone else’s smell might confuse him for at least a
while.

Deciding that she would run back in the direction of a friends, she
vaguely knew where they lived and right now if she passed
somewhere else she would hopefully lose him on the way.
Taking off down the road she stuck to the shadows, she passed
a few people that a woman out walking on her own wouldn’t
want to pass, but right now she didn’t care about that. Ducking
into an all night diner she sat down for a few second and then
headed for the backdoor, touching as many things as she could
on her way she ducked into the bathroom and then slipped out
the backdoor without touching anything on the door. Running
out into the night she cut up on street, so far she hadn’t touched
a thing outside and was hoping that she would make it to her
desired place without him following.

Lucien continued his slow through the bar, taking in every sight, sound, and smell trying to find the girl. When he finally reached the end of the bar he glanced over to his left where he could see the back door of the bar, then over to the right where there were a few pool tables. Again he glanced over to his left just in time to see the back door closing. Now there were two reasons why someone would go through the back door, they were either the employees of the bar or they were trying to run from someone. Either way he would find out soon enough as he quickly began moving towards the door.

Just as he was almost to the door a waitress backed away from a table to his right, slamming into Lucien and knocking him back a little. The woman kept apologizing but all he could think about was how his prey had probably gotten away by now. He forcefully pushed the apologetic waitress away from him and tore out of the back door. Finally he was out of that forsaken bar and back in his world. There was no girl to be found, and the only fresh scent he could smell was that of a man. He was just about to turn back into the bar and give up on the hunt, which he usually never did, when he noticed something more.

The only scent he could smell that was fresh was that of a man, just as he had before, but then he noticed something more to the scent; almost hidden. It was the girl, she must have slipped on someone elses shirt, or jacket or something. He had picked the perfect prey tonight, she was smart, crafty, and had been the first to get this far away from him in a long, long time. Lucien began tracking the new scent of the man, which he was guessing now was actually the girl. Quickly, he ran down the road following the scent and quick for a vampire was much faster than quick for a human. If he made good time here he might be able to catch up to her.

Along the way he passed a few shady humans, but none were the girl so he paid them no attention. Finally after a few moments of running, a small diner began coming into view and the scent was getting stronger the closer he got to it. When he finally got to the diner he angrily tore through the door and into the diner, following her scent like a bloodhound. The scent led him to a spot where she must have been sitting, then left again towards the back door. The scent was getting stronger and stronger as he got close to a bathroom door. He paused for a moment before stepping inside.

The girl had lead him on a good chase, he had to admit that, but here it would end for her. He had to question what she was thinking when she came into the bathroom to hide though, did she really think he wouldn't find her after all this? The bathroom itself was devoid of any person except for himself and, he hoped, the girl. Slowly he walked up to a bathroom stall door and pushed it open, it was empty. Then to the next one, it was empty. Only one left and she had to be hiding in it, with a grin he slowly pushed the stall door open and... It was empty; impossible.

As the realization of the fact that she had duped him began to set him, he could do nothing but laugh. His cold laugh echoed through the empty bathroom. She had tricked him, something no one had been able to do in a long time. Though it his laughter didn't last long before he was back into the diner again. Her scent, or at least her hidden scent, ended at the bathroom. There was quite a bit of doubt in his mind that she had ran back through the front door and that she was still in the diner, so he exited out of the back door. Once outside there was a miniscule trace of her scent, he had been right, but a small breeze began to blow through the air. The scent was quickly gone. He didn't want to give up completely yet, so he set of in a random direction up a street. This had been the best chase he had, had since the last time someone had been able to trick him and get away. Though whether the girl knew it or not, even if he had picked the wrong street and she got away, the chase would never end. The last person that had tricked him was able to get away, but eventually Lucien caught him almost two years later. After all, Lucien loved a challenge, and he never gave up.

Going nowhere

She was sure that he wasn't going to find her, well that
was what was running through her head as she ran down the
streets, she touched nothing and soon she felt he cold wind whip
around her neck. Pulling the coat up around her neck she smelt
the smell of whoever this belonged to. The smell was musty and
yet sweet, it was quite nice to say the least. Sighing she
buttoned it and then continued at her brisk pace, she knew that
he wouldn't be far behind, by the way he had chased her
through the woods one of the last times that she had seen him
he had looked like he would never give up, and now she was
evading him, something she would never get to do.

Whimpering as she tripped Vixen regained her balance without
touching the ground and ran across the street ducking behind a
building and looking out where she had come, the wind was cold
and menacing as she hoped it would hide her scent of the scent
of whoever jacket she had taken. Biting her lip Vixen huffed a
silent sigh and then turned, seeing a familiar street she
remembered an old friend, she hadn't seen her in years but i
guess this was the best time to drop by for a visit. They had
talked through texts a few times but nothing big, about how they
should go out for coffee sometime.

Ducking into the shadows she crossed the street trying to shield
her face from the cold as she wandered down the street looking
for the right house, trying to remember through the times she
had come here to hang out. Finally halfway down the street she
realized a house, the lights were warm in the windows as she
had always remembered, sighing she hoped that by now he was
gone, with a jacket the diner and the wind but if he came to her
house she would simply run leaving the other girl out of it.

Scooting up the driveway she glanced behind her and then
knocked on the door, keeping her eyes on the rooftops of other
houses and the street that she had turned from. Turning out
she put on a bright warm smile as she door opened to reveal a
long lost friend. After hugs and a question of why Vixen was out
so late with a guys jacket on she was invited in. Taking one last
look out the door she disappeared into the house, she let the girl
close and lock the door behind her making sure to touch nothing
until she was in the house.

Hopefully this was the last of him that she would see, but deep
in Vixens stomach she knew that they would meet again, and it
wouldn't take long for him to find her again, it was only a
question of when.
